Leeks is undoubtedly one of our favorite producers and DJs, his style is unique.

Hi Leeks, this interview is to GTOBEAT (MEXICO), www.gtobeat.com

Tell us about your life as a DJ & producer.

Started to DJ in 2006 after seeing some DJs playing at events in my area, and just wanted to dj from then, got some decks (Turntables) etc about a month later, and was just messing about on them for weeks.

.

When did you start producing?

I started making music in late 2007, just funky electro stuff but did not send to labels it was just a bit of fun, then got into tech, techno , minimal, and send track to label and it came out early 2008.

Tell us about your influences...

Things what influence me are, Sven Vath, Popof, Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Paul Ritch, Joris Voorn, Stepahn Bodzin, Hugo, Leger, Mendes, Deadmau5, funkwerkstatt, Oxia, Massi DL, Alex Di Stefano, Audiojack, Format:B, Vonstroke, Phunklarique, Dejonka, Donk Boys, Mark knight, Lexy.... places like Timewarp, Global Gathering, Ibiza, Sankeys, places where the music is always good, Ableton Live, Native Instruments, Minimoog, KRK soundsystems, iMac :), My midi controllers, Beatport players, Saturday parties, Sunday morning parties, weekend long parties, the fact that i really dont want to have a 9-5 job... the list goes on...

Could you comment some about the electronic scene in your country?

England is really good for all kinds of music and you can go out every night of the week and find something on what will be a good night, every weekend at clubs there is always big names playing so it will be guaranteed a good night!

What is your opinion about the electronic scene in Mexico?

I think the electronic scene in Mexico is getting much better and more pepole are taking notice of the underground music, i think 2009 will be a good year for underground music in Mexico

Tell us about your new project plans that are working on at the moment?

I’m quite busy with remix s at the moment, I think I will be till late August. i have regular release scheduled for the remix s, it will be like 2 a month I think.

-Could you comment about your sound and style?

I just make music what I like, some times tech some times minimal/ techno its just what ever mood I’m in, of if iv heard a track witch sounded good on in a club.
I would say I like tracks what are a bit wired and wonky, so I try to make that kind of sound, most of my productions have a bounce grove feel to them.

What do you recommend to those who aspire to be djs?

I would say, if you want to do it you can, especial with every thing being digital now, it is quite easy to get a good CD wallet/laptop full of tunes.

Who are your favorite D J's producers?

At the moment it would be "Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Paul Ritch, Joris Voorn, Stepahn Bodzin, Hugo, Leger, Oxia, Massi Dl"    every track they make is top quality

would you like to come to Mexico? When?

I would love to got to Mexico, i have not had a gig there yet and it would be a great opportunity for me to promote my music in Mexico... and it is sunny ;-)

What is the best experience you have had like as a DJ?

I would say it was when i was playing in Japan, and the night before the gig we went to the club called "WOMB" witch is a really good club and one what I have always wanted to go, there is always good djs playing there. if i hadn't of been DJing in Japan I would of never had the chance to go to that club

What is the most important to you inside the music?

I think if a track is good and has a good crowd reaction that is the main thing for a DJ to be looking for in music

could you send a message to GTOBEAT and Mexico?

Thanks to every one who likes my music hope to see Mexico soon!! see you all then!
